Recommend me a FAST SD card

For my D7000. Looking at around 16gb or more. Im fed up of it getting clogged up and 'buffering' mid-shoot.

Is it the card or the camera that's buffering? Unless you have a paticularly slow card there will be a certain amount of shots that the camera can buffer at any one time. My 7D gets about 14 shots (I think, I'd have to check) at 8fps before slowing down.

As for cards Sandisc extreme have served me well.

Out of interest does anyone know how fast a normal sandisk sdhc card would be?

Im looking at these 30mbps and 90mbps extreme ones but dont know what im comparing it to.

As for cards Sandisc extreme have served me well.

I get about 24 shots before I hit the buffer (remember you are writing to the card at the same time as shooting) - if you dont you need a faster cf card!

I'm not talking about the camera slowing down during burst shots, but I generally find that if I have been taking a lot of photos over the course of about a minute it will slow down and eventually not allow me to take any more photos until it has caught up. I dont have much need for doing 6 shots per second or anything like that, I just dont want it to slow down when I\m constantly clicking away. Is this slowing down likely to be camera or card issues?

Sounds like it is not clearing the buffer as fast as your shooting, which could well be a card speed issue.

Sandisk Extreme 30mb/s in my D7000 and it performs great, doesn't seem to slow down even when there is a couple of hundred pics on it.

I'm not sure if this is how it works but a D700 raw file is about 13MB so a card with 30MB/s I assume 2.3 pics / sec any more and it backs up. 60MB/s is closer to the max fps rate of the camera. A D300s is about 14-15MB. So for continuos shooting its either fast cards or jpg's and maybe small ones at that.

eta Following the above logic for a 8fps camera you'd need max 3.75MB files (med fine jpeg) for a 30MB/s card and 7.5MB files (large jpeg fine) for 60MB/s cards for continuos shooting (D300s figures; I assume D7000 files are larger).
