Built in GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and stuff. And it happens to be a phone as well.

Still, who needs a D800 .... ?

My initial uninformed reaction was negative but now I've read about it, I think they're onto something for that sector.

It's interesting some people think that they're just resizing a 41MP image to something more manageable thus making it pointless, I can't think they've read any articles at all.

If I'm right in understanding what I've read so far, the 41MP will effectively work as a means of half decent digital zoom (as a substitute for optical zoom) but will still result in a lot of noise and isn't necessarily going to result in ground breaking image quality.

Sort of, it depends on how far you zoom in. If you zoom to 1-to-1 then there will be no spare sensor sites to average, and you'll end up with a picture as good as any existing 5MP (if you're in that mode) image. It's when pixel-binning that the quality will increase.

Lens quality will be key. A sensor as well packed as this will need to be will need to have L quality glass or it will just pick up the lens errors. Mega-pixels are not the answer.
