Lens fault - won't zoom

To answer your last question first ...

Sounds unusual but then without knowing exactly what the problems is it's difficult to know whether other would suffer the same problem. Likewise the answers to the other questions.

I think all you can do is get an estimate for the likely repair costs and check how much a replacement could be obtained for. Use the answers as guidance for your decision along with any useful (and reliable looking) information you can uncover on the 'net.

If you search around most of the repair docs are online for the old zukio lenses.

You may be able to repair it yourself. I'd suggest that it isnt economic to pay someone.
