Morning all,
I'm wondering if this is the right place for my question.
I have several hundred photos (snaps) that I would like to scan and keep.
What scanner would you recommend for the job, that has a decent sized hopper/feeder?
Has anyone hired such a device?

Many thanks for your help smile

Before you invest in a scanning solution, it might be worth testing an overhead copy shot rig through a digital camera?

We binned our scanners quite a while ago, as there was just no regular call for it, but if we ever have any need to capture images from flat artwork or pictures as you have described, we use this method. It works very well. We even shoot digital captures from film and negs over a lightbox.

If the pictures don't lie flat, you can lay a sheet of glass over them prior to shooting.

What size photos?

Do you have the negatives?

Automatic feeders on Photo Scanners are rare.

Have you considered using a scanning service, not as expensive as you might think.

just got an Epson sx235 (wireless scanner, copier, printer) for £40
It has a flat bed for scanning and no document feeder.
Over the weekend scanned 1000+ photos..... a bit labourious but enjoyable at the same time.

not the greatest of copies but it does give "digital memories" to share
