Does anyone do basic video editing?
I'd like to get into originally youtube videos for tyre reviews, but my efforts so far with a gopro and sony vegas trail have been frustrating difficult, and the outcome poor.
I'm thinking of going down the 5d MKII route (been after one for a while anyway) so can probably shoot the stuff, it's just editing that seems to escape me.
I don't want anything fancy, just a simple, quick way of cropping down videos, joining them with others and exporting them in a decent format. The biggest issue seems to be codec hell, even though I've every possible codec pack known to man installed, nothing seems to work!
I realise this isn't really a question, more just random venting / musing.

I use Adobe Premier Pro and also After Effects for video editing.
It isn't exactly easy to use but once you get the hang of it it all makes sense, it is also extremely powerful. Plus due to the fact the products are wide spread there is a wealth of instructional videos on youtube and vimeo.
There is also a Sony product that a lot seem to use but the name escapes me at the moment!

That'll be Sony Vegas Pro - the one I have issues with!I did try the adobe suit, but I struggled to get it to read the Go Pro format.
Perhaps I'll have more luck now the format has become more established.
Though I did just make the decision to replace my quad core desktop with a laptop which I might live to regret if I start enjoying video editing! Fortunately the laptop is no slouch so should get me by for now.
