Photo to drawing

I have a photo that I'd like to have a drawing of, but an actual drawing not a computer generated one.

Any ideas where I could get this done?

Apologies to the OP but here's a photo from my computer. Don't know how this compares to what you have seen drawn by a computer, I would be interested to know.

Ooh a thread I can contribute to in the photo section. OP I would have a go at doing it yourself as there a number of ways in which you can 'cheat'. You sense of satisfaction will be higher to.

When I did my industrial design degree in the early 90s we used the following techniques:

For big pictures: Trace the photo outlines onto acetate and then project it onto the canvas / paper using an OHP. Then use the projected image to create the outline for your drawing. Do a few copies and then have a play with colour and shading. A modern day equivalent be using a projector connected to your computer and to manipulate the image in 'shop to a line drawing.

For smaller images trace the picture onto acetate or designers sketch pad paper and then photocopy onto a cartridge type paper and again have a play with colour or shade.

My final degree show incorporated a full size 'drawing' of an 8 rowing boat and looked amazing - all done by smoke and mirrors. It really did attract some attention about how good the scale and proportions where by people who visited the show.

My drawing ability hasnt improved since I ws about 8 so dont think I'll be attempting it myself. Got a quote from the suggestion above for 45 quid at A3 size so very happy with that
