New to the forum

Well this forum has inspired me to upgrade my 'point and shoot'. I've got my hands on a DSLR - Canon 550D. It's well above my capabilities in terms of my skill/experience at the moment but I'm hoping to grow into it and in time I'll hopefully be able to be some nice shots up on here.

I'm off down to the RAF museum at Cosford this week so will get some shots of the toys in there. I live near Snowdonia so there's plenty of stunning landscape to take pictures of. I plan on attempting some star-trails once I have a tripod - any recommendations?

Best advice is to just get out and start taking photos by experimenting with different settings. Start using the AV and TV modes realising what they do they try manual mode.

Most of the time AV and TV modes work for me but every now and again manual is the only way to go.
