Nikon ( D7000 ) or Pentax ( K5 )

I’m considering upgrading my Camera. The shortlist is either the Pentax K5 or the Nikon D7000.
I currently use a Pentax K-x which came as a 2 lens kit. 18-55 and 55-300mm.
Anyone have experience of both cameras ?
I'm drawn ( again ) to the Pentax becuase of the high quality chassis and weather proofing.

I sold my Nikon D300s outfit a little while back. A few months ago I got a Pentax K5 with a 17-70. I'm now thinking about getting a Tamron superzoom 18-270 for some travel next year so I have a one lens solution.
The K5 is a great camera. I prefer it to the D7000 in many ways. I thought the D7000 would the obvious choice as I am used to Nikon, but I fancied a change and I'm happy I picked the K5.
Picture quality is fantastic. I like the metering. I like the way it is smaller than the Nikon too. I also like the weather- sealed build quality. It's a lovely thing.
One of my favourite things about it is the noise it makes. The shutter sound is really silky and quiet. Much quieter than a Nikon or Canon.
It comes down to personal taste and what feels good in your hands, what sort of lenses you need etc. Nikon is better for flash for example and the choice of lenses is much greater with Nikon too.
You can't go wrong with either IMO

earlier this year I bought a D7000 and a Tamron 18 - 270 as a one lens camera package
I certainly have no complaints, though I do find the lens a bit slow sometimes, but the camera makes up for that with excellent ISO performance to get back a couple of stops or so.
The lens also has Image Stabilization to help with slower speeds
for me it's about getting used to the combo, It now, on 90% of occasions does what I expect,
just need to work on the other 10%
I'm now looking for a suitable flash gun (speedlite SB-700 / SB-900)
I'm a complete novice when it comes to flash photography so another period of learning is about to commence.

I'd go for the Nikon because you're buying into a system and changing system's is expensive.....I know Pentax have been around for years too but second hand lenses are really worth considering and it's just so much easier getting Nikon one's.
Ironically once Pentax K-mount lenses were one of the most common! (as all the 'not-big-five' camera makers used it)One reason I prefer the Pentax is because it is weather sealed. Rain or snow is not a problem. I kept mine around my neck in a rain shower and inspite of the looks from other people with cameras it wasn't a problem. It's also noticeably smaller than Nikon.

On the other hand it is quite true that Nikon offers a wider choice of lenses. You can get pretty much all you need from Pentax though and it is worth rememberIng that the OP already has some Pentax lenses. If you want more choice with specialised lenses then Nikon is probably more suitable.
Mind you, it is also worth remembering that both cameras have the same sensor ( made by Sony) so picture quality will be similar even though the software stuff will vary.

This could be something to bear in mind actually, as pentax offer a range of reasonably priced weather sealed lenses as well, whearas with Nikon (and Canon) you have to plump for their top end, very expensive, glass if you want weather sealing.
