Blurbs iPad/Phone photo books

So ...Blurb now let you convert existing or create new books into iPad/Phone e books. Irrespective of size and pages it costs £1.49 + VAT.



It does what it says on the tin. I'm slightly disappointed that when you 'tap' on any of the photos it doesn't become full screen (about 85%). This is ok on a Pad but not so good on a phone (let's face it a phone is crap anyway).

Once converted, one simply downloads a file to your 'puter and one transfers to iPad/Phone (or go direct)

Anyway, I couldn't find anything in the T&Cs as to whether, once I have the file, I can sell it myself (circumventing the blurb website), so I e mailed them, and their response "We're not sure"

Doh!

What sort of size are the "books" compared to the original Blurb files?

Last few I put together were not exactly small (1-2gigs). And wonder if they'll bother with an Android variant ....

I made one this morning to try it out - 100 pics about 1 gig - by the time it was being uploaded it was about 130mb. The file they sent back was 36mb. Not sure about Android - no plans at present apparently.

Ta; definitely looks interesting, and would be very definitely worth doing for any future albums, regardless of my having an iPad or not - have plenty of friends with them, would be a handy way of distributing the books.

Your images, your copyright and I'm guessing it's in an open standard E-pub format. If there is no DRM on there can't see why you couldn't sell it/give it away although if selling it I would have hoped there would be some form of DRM in there to stop copying.

Is it straightforward to do this? I've downloaded the iPad app and been scouring the website but seem to be missing something!!

If you want to create an iPad book (as opposed to buying one), go to www.Blurb.com create the book using your photos and then 'buy' as an eBook. £1.49 + VAT

You can set your price and sell your eBook via their website. They will pay you every time you have more than $25 profit.
