Honda S2000 Promo - My first video

Hello everyone, not long got my first ever camera (550d) and a few weeks ago I filmed and edited my first ever video with my mates car being the subject. I know its not the best, but I learn't so much and most important of all had lots of fun with both filming and editing.

This was filmed with just the stock 18-55mm lens and edited in FCP7 and colour graded in magic bullet.

Not bad at all for a first video

My thoughts:

the grade - it's a bit strong - the highlight detail is really blown out in some shots.

Sound - the s2k has a crazy engine note, but we dont hear any of it. At the moment it feels like a silent movie with music over the top. Also a little sound design, very subtley, can really enhance a video - a feint woosh on a whip pan, or a servo noise on a pull focus etc. Top gear have some really nice sound design on some of their films.

Shots - i like the shots you've got. But i'd also get other shots that aren't just of the car - sun shining through the trees, a squirrel looking up in surprise (perhaps he's heard the engine note), an empty road and a tall blade of grass in the foreground - all these things can help you construct a story. Maybe even some abract shots that you can use as shot transitions - like past blurry whip pans, or close ups of the lines in the road whipping past.

Very nice video.

Like Fordo said tho some clips of the engine would make it even better.
