Canon EOS 300D

Gents, I want to "dip a toe" into DSLR's after a disappointing set of photos from my bridge camera - its generally too slow and does'nt like low light.
Some one recommended this website below.

Would this be a good starter for the money, or would I still be missing something?

What bridge camera are you using first of all?

My first DSLR was a 300D. Certainly not a bad camera but by todays standards a lot of compacts will leave it behind.

When you say you are unhappy with the bridge camera shots what do you mean? Do you mean that they should look better in terms of composition, lighting and subject? How much practice have you had with the bridge camera? A camera won't make you a better photographer.

300D was the first consumer dSLR from waaaay back. First canon with an EF-S mount too. (10D is a bit older and lacks ef-s).


Its OK but IMO for a little more you can get a much more competent 350D or 400D.

300D IQ is fine, 6mp is very lite but enough.

Its dog slow on shooting and review and focus isnt the best either tho. And has a bunch of artificial restrictions built in ( like Ai servo only in sport mode etc).

Look for a 20D or 350D onwards.

Also the 18-55 non IS kit lens is pants.

These, I thought, were better shots, with a little Picassa editing.


However, these not so good.

Without a lens, that 300D isn't worth that in a month of Sundays. That money should get you close to a 400D with a lens.
