I was wondering whether, if it proved to be stolen (eg serial number), Paypal would refund the buyer? Or would Paypal/ebay be happy to go on record as facilitating the sale of stolen goods, the commission from which might constitute fradulent income?

I don't believe so simply because if that was the case there would be a lot less stuff in eBay that looks to be stolen. I don't think they have any liability.

They need to bring in some proper legislation to deal with handling stolen goods and be willing to given serious sentences for people that can't prove the source of goods. That combined with a task force of BiB targetting scrotes selling the stuff on eBay or Gumtree would stop a lot of this kind of crime.

You may be right, but it's odd that if I helped someone sell a looted camera and was found out I'd probably get six months for being an accessory.

Somebody should have asked her to name the competition to check up. If legit then no objection surely?
