Nikon D3100 18-55 and 55-300mm - Cheapest place to buy?

Moving on from an earlier post where I was looking at entry level DSLR's I think I have made my mind up to buy the kit above. The cheapest place for this combo seems to be ebay but it's a HK seller with a good +ive feedback but something tells me not to do this:

I bought the same camera about 6 months ago (just with the kit lens), and was seeing these kind of deals on Ebay also. Price looks okay, but for me, when spending that kind of money and on something like this, I'd rather get it from a shop where I can take it back if need be. What if it gets damaged in transit, then you've got to deal with an ebay seller in Hong Kong? No thanks..

Got mine from Jessops, and at the time Nikon were doing a cashback deal, not sure if they're still doing it though..

I would ask what happens about import duty charges. If you get stung for import duty it probably will wipe out any savings you make over better known sellers.
Also the warranty says you have to send it back to them ? doesn't sound ideal

Never bought from them but this lot http://www.digitalrev.com/en/nikon-d3100-dslr-18-5... are fairly well regarded I believe. They provide a warranty and pay the import charges - if you get charged you send them the receipt and they refund it. IIRC for the warranty you get it fixed locally and send em the bill - but check on that, have a look on talkphotography.

Might be worth asking Kerso what price he can do it for too (via TP).

The warranty bits a PITA for sure but dont these things have a 2 year warranty anyway?

The seller has confirmed he will mark as a gift and as such there would be no duty payable. Not ideal but he has assured me he ha sent plenty to the UK without problem.

I am looking to buy the exact same thing. Went looking at prices in a couple of stores yesterday.

So in total, more expensive but i would have more peace of mind getting them from there rather than ebay.

If Jessops are selling it at an OK price,and you happen to have unredeemed Tesco Clubcard Points laying around, you can exchange them for Vouchers to use in Jessops at DOUBLE their face value.

true the standard price everywhere for the D3100 18-55mm kit is £399 at the moment, be it John Lewis, Jessops or the usual online places so this club card deal is awesome!

Yes, my first DSLR - went through the whole Nikon/Canon decision process, and in the end decided on Nikon - can't really remember why, but probably down to all the reviews I was reading.

I'm really pleased with the camera so far, and have found it very easy to use. My only gripe would be the cost of lenses due to the motor being in the lens and not the camera. I'm now looking to buy my first lens and am looking at a prime rather than bigger zoom so I can really start to learn about composition etc, and hopefully get much nicer quality pics than with the kit lens. But typically the AF-S lenses are significantly more expensive than AF
