Is there a way to display date and time on photos, I've got a Canon 500D and have lent it to a friend who is a private detective. He needs to show date and time on pics. Just wondering if there is a setting to display this without having to photoshop it on ? Couldn't see anything in the manual.

I don't have that camera but I'm pretty sure it won't be able to do that.

The date and time will be recorded in the EXIF tags that are embedded in the image files. I think there are programs that will read this data and place a corresponding time stamp on the photos. For example:

Another piece of software that will do that, and is free to download, is Faststone. Just point it at the folder containing the photos you want done, after setting it to do what's required, and it will do them all in a few seconds.

I suspect there is also software that allows allows such data to be changed to whatever the user sets it as... so maybe not sound evidence in court?

Then what's stopping somebody simply photoshopping out the datestamp and changing it.
