I watched the clip of it happening live, on BBC News. What got me was that one of the mahoosive lamp posts(?) got swallowed-up completely and disappeared down the hole. Nowhere to be seen afterwards. yikes

A rare photo from the PH 200 month club this week. Apparently someone is flogging dodgy cutlery.

In the 1970s, a rather aged woman died on holiday in the City of London. Her son was a Cumberland PC and the City offered to put him up at the section house while he sorted stuff out. I was on the Special Operations Group and we offered to take him out for a shift. He told us that the previous day he was walking along Regent Street, saw a three-card-trick being operated by a couple of blokes and walked over to see how they operated. The bloke running it took one look at him, closed the little table he had, and he and other bloke ran off, but not before he felt a pull on the breast pocket of his suit jacket. He wandered off, only to find a £5 note stuff in there.

He asked, 'How did he know I was a PC?' We all burst out laughing. He looked the dead spit of Dixon of Dock Green, or at least a younger version. He was even wearing black DMs. It's a wonder he didn't say to the bloke, 'Evenin' all.'

That's the one you lust after then, is it? I'm your fantasy? The world is a weird place.

Mind you, nothing's impossible, Blib.
