Just turned up in the loch. 81 metres long. Yours to rent for only 500,000 euros a week.

A snip.

That is an utterly gorgeous yacht. I bet it looks awesome in person under full sail.

Leyland, looking towards Longton direction shortly before a Kestrel decided it didn't like my drone being in it's territory

Q: How will the boat get into the boathouse?

A: >>> http://stevecarter.com/latest/Wheels_Down.mp4

By the way, if you don't see a pic, it's Thumbsnap, not me.

Only really flown my holystone 175d a couple of times. But this shot is from our house looking towards Ryde pier.

I am quite impressed with it given the price point.

I've never heard of one of those before, but the specs do look very good and are they really only £200??

I've wanted a Mavic 3, because of photos like the above, but just can't justify the price. So the Holystone may be worth a look? Any more feedback aboiut how it flies, camera etc?

Thats a huge difference in price Mavic 3 to a £200 drone. Were you thinking of an mini 3?

The other main thing to be aware of is that (unlike the mini 3) the Holystone can't take photos in RAW. An absolute deal breaker for me.

It is light (so sub 250g, requiring no formal registration, CAA intervention, etc.) which means in light wind it can be continually adjusting to keep its position (but I imagine other drones of similar weights would also be impacted. GPS seems pretty accurate and return home feature brings it back within 3 feet each time (not as good as class leading but fine for most peoples needs). It is easy to fly and will go up 100m and upto 500m diameter - although the wifi reception and image starts dropping out before this point.

A couple of times it has gone into the circular flight mode - which has confused (and panicked) me - but easy to rectify when you realise what it is doing.

I think the camera claims to be 4K but in reality is 2K (not verified as I am not that interested, but on line reviews have mentioned this). The shot above has had its resolution reduced by thumbsnap so the actual image is better than that.

Brushless motors, two batteries, gimbal, GPS features are all really good in a package for under £200. They do vary in price - I have seen them at £161.99 on amazon in recent months.

A great, fully featured drone if you are starting out and do not want to go through the CAA processing etc.....

Ah, thanks Mike I didn't realise that. Last time I looked this was not a requirement for anything under 250g.....but it looks like I need an operator ID at £10.33 per annum. So not as bad as it was. (I recall it was £16 over 250g??). And I get alerts from the CAA on a lot of stuff related to work too......

I see I don't require a flyer ID though? So, I presume no test required?

Regs must have changed a little while back.

Right now there is no requirement for a flyer ID if the drone is sub 250grams but do bear in mind that the regs are in a state of change right now with the CAA looking to implement a whole new bunch of rules and regs, so best to keep an eye out just in case.

Careful - Not a toy with a camera requires an operator ID - I've gone the safe route, got the ID and labelled my drone

How do you find the 3? I quite fancy the upgrade at some point, because I'd really like the follow me.
I think I also definitely need some sort of strobe light, twice this weekend had to use the return home as I lost it in the grey sky, not far away
