It's my birthday on Friday so asked the mrs to get me some decent headphones for the xbox!

Requirements are -

Ideally 5.1/7.1
Must be able to use chat still
Wireless would be nice but not essential
Would love for them to work with an iPad as well!
Couldn't care less if they don't work with PC

Any recommendations guys?

TurtleBeach X41. Awesome, love mine for late night gaming when I can't crank up my proper sounds.

Also have a look at Tritton AX720s, which you might just get within your budget - Astros are apparently the best headsets out there, but the cheapest model is £150 (ouch!).

More like £200. its pointless buying the astros unless you have the amp, as that's where it really comes alive. expensive, but beautifully crafted.

Thanks guys, would the X41's or the Trittons work with an iPad as well?

The cheaper Astro A30s come in at about £150 - the top dog A40s are the (more) expensive ones.

OP, the Tritton comes with a control box with numerous ports, so you should be able to plug other gadgets into it as well - the mic is also detachable. It's only a 2-channel system though - the 5.1 headset (AX Pro) is a wee bit more, at £130.

The X41s are optical input so don't think so? They have 2 channel (red / White) connection too but it's not portable with the transmitter it needs.

No but you could link you Ipad to the xbox and use them via that.

It was more for travelling but never mind!

I think I want the X41's, can anyone persuade me not to?

Nope. I've had the older X4's for about 3 and 1/2 years and they are fantastic. Only had to replace the chat lead after 3 years of using them regularly.
