Afternoon all.

Got a 3D LG Plasma. Got 3D game - Crysis 2. Got a PS3. What I haven't got is the 3D working. Crysis says I need HDMI 1.4. Is this as simple as getting a 1.4 HDMI cable or is my big, fat old style PS3 out of date too?

Cheers

Your PS3 will be fine. You need a particular standard of cable because the older ones aren't capable of the data speeds needed for 3D. Old Category 1 (aka "Standard") cables can transmit data at upto 2.25Gbps, newer Category 2 (aka "High Speed") can transmit up to 10.2Gbps.

Have you got the latest Software Version on the PS3 as I think the older versions need updates

Yep. Think downloading it is unavoidable.

I think 3.3 (last year some time) introduced 3D support.

Pretty sure you have to go into the TV settings on the PS3 and choose 720/1080 3D setting rather than the 720/1080 HD setting.

Shouldn't need the newer cable on the PS3 - one of the only BD players where this is the case, only downside is 3D with 1080i rather than 1080p.

You do for 3D games though (which is the OP's question)

No you don't, the HDMI 1.3 cables are fine for 3D games on the PS3.
