How about a PH Top Gear Test Track Time Trial Challenge? Rules are simple - you can use any car, modded any which way you like as long as it started life as a "roadcar", not a race special. In other words - just like real Top Gear, it has to be able to go over a speed bump and wear number plates. Doesn't have to be a standing start, you're allowed to clock a flying lap time. Tyres must be Sport Tyres, not racing slicks.

Screen shots not required as evidence - unless there's a real case for challenging the authenticity of your claimed time!

I'll start us off:

TOP GEAR TEST TRACK CHALLENGE
CarLap Time
R35 Nissan GTR (Running 670Bhp) 1:06.72

Flying start. As in, you do an outlap, a flyer, and then an inlap.

Why do an inlap? confused or an outlap for that matter? Why not just the best lap you can record?

Also which tyres are you using, racing softs wouldn't exactly be road legal cop

Fair point. Just suggesting a method of clocking a good lap time.

I used Racing Mediums to clock that time. I guess we could standardise tyre choice to make it a more level playing field......thoughts?

All times to be set on sport tyres would be more like the Top Gear power lap board. I like this idea though, trying to find the fastest car in various categories will be fun!

Great idea - just edited the original rules to reflect that. Now I'll just have to clcok a time on sport tyres and update the table!

IMO cars should be standard.

The HUGE downside with having a limited arcade garage. In GT4 you could pick any car you had bought as 'standard' spec to race with...

Gah.

I know what you mean, but if that was the case everyone would just use one car (probably Veyron or Zonda R if that's considered a road-car...). Allowing mods opens it up a bit and means you can tune the car for the track, which for me is the fun part! So there might be some unlikely heroes emerging...

But the goal wouldn't be the fastest absolute time, but the fastest times per car, or per class of car...

With mods the fastest car is just going to be a Zonda R with mods anyway hehe

Etc

So what we have here is essentially a Time Attack of the TGTT?
I'm in, though I suppose a PP cap is too much to ask for?

I think it should just be standard road cars and we have a power lap board, post the car and time and see can anyone beat it smile

I may chuck in a few laps, most likely use a standard car as don't have the time to fine tune a car for that track!
