RROD problem on Xbox 360

Hi,

I'm getting the RROD problem with my Xbox 360 (since 10 mins ago). A few days before, I was playing Fallout New Vegas (my newest game, so a good condition CD) and it kept crashing. I haven't covered the vents of the console, and I can't see any cause of any problems which I can rectify myself.

The console hasn't seen prolonged use in ages, more occasional.

If its under 3 years old send it to Germany, over 3 years old, new ones are dirt cheap.

This was my other question: If the warranty has expired, what are my options? I don't want to buy a new one due to the faults of Microsoft.

buy a new one, they are much more reliable as they run on lower voltage and dont get as warm etc

Tesco are currently offering 20% off all there gaming items, so you can pick one up for very little at the moment.

Even if I do that, how would I keep all my saved games intact? They're all on the hard drive of the faulty unit.

use a hard drive transfer cable.

just take the hard drive off the old one, it's just one button to remove it
you can buy consoles off ebay without hard drives and controllers etc

When my old one broke I bought the cheapest brand new one I could find, and transferred all my accessories to it. Simple enough, better console and a new warranty too!

i have a spare 360 just for occasions like this!! Having had mine die 4 times in 3 years i sent it for repair and then bought an Elite while the other one was away. Its my old one is used as a pool 360 for when any of my friends xbox's die also.

Sad fact really! but then it is a launch console....

You can get a new style Xbox 360 slim 4GB for £119.99 in tesco. You can remove the hard drive from your current console, take out the torx screws and remove the drive from it's casing, this will slot in nicely on a new style slim xbox.
