Any PH-ers playing it?

Just started, but I haven't got a clue what I'm doing.

I played for a while, then suspended my account due to lack of playing time. However, I've just reactivated it again What server are you playing on?

Playing on infinity atm.

It can take a while to understand a lot of the game systems. The crafting system in particular is very complex.

Take your time and try and get involved with an active city or guild with some good players

Had my first group mission with another player last night, although he disbanded and buggered off straight after he'd got his XP.

Checked my inventory and I had a basic camp in there, although I haven't "crafted" one yet. How did it get there?

Also now got an R2 unit following me around and offering advice.

Still a lot to learn!

other players can be selfish and stupid so dont take things they say and do to heart.

The basic camp thing, is something that is given to all new players, a scout can create a camp.

The r2 unit is one of the newbie helper droids I think.

they went in on tuesday with the last patch, I have yet to use one though so i cant be much help.

Chief, Alex,

I play a fair amount of Galaxies and have recently moved to the Infinity server.

If you fancy a helping hand, advice, gear or simply some credits then drop me a mail in game.

In game name is Brillig on Infinity or Exsanguine on Tarquinas.

Do you have to start again from scratch when you move to a different server? I'm currently on Kauri and it seems to be exclusively French.

How good is this game. Ive been debating getting it for a while now. How much does it cost per month, is it worth it, ect.

My view so far:

Yes, it's worth it. However, you need to make or have some friends playing it too to get the most out of it.

The initial learning curve is quite steep. There is a lot more to the game than first appears.

Also, you need to be able to spend several hours a week (day!) on it to get your character upto a decent level. I'm not sure I won't get bored first.

Alex, yes you do unfortunately, however I would happily lend a hand if you wanted to move to Infinity.

Its one of the least populated servers, but also seems to be one of the friendliest, moving was a pain for me but well worth it.

If you want a hand when you've moved servers, someone to hunt with or just some starting creds and gear, would be happy to help out.

Cheers mate, I'll create a character on Infinity tonight. Just getting a speeder bike or land speeder would be a start! Getting a bit fed up of all the running around

P.S. I've collected a load of creature eggs and samples of flies and bugs etc. from lairs. What can I do with them? Are they ingredients in something you can craft? I haven't sussed how to sell things yet.

Same as any mmorpgs its the community aspect that makes it a lot more fun, so people do count a lot. Im lucky in that I have a few RL mates who started playing on infinity.

The learning curve is quite steep, however its a lot steeper for the crafting professions (which can be VERY complex) than some of the others, such as some combat profs or scout etc.

You dont HAVE to deliver masssive amounts of time, but it frequently takes up large amounts lol.

If it takes, say, 50 hours of playing time to level a combat profession, that will either take 3 days straight at the keyboard, or a month at 10 hours a week etc...

It is more rewarding the more time you put in, and some professions are massive timesinks (ie resource collection and shop stocking for a top-end crafter) however its still possible to play a far lower amount of hours and still have fun

My current character is a Scout/Artisan. I've only just managed to get to the first rung above novice in a couple of disciplines.

For Scouting, I'm going out and killing low HAM creatures like Chubas and harvesting resources, but it's getting a bit boring and I'm still 30,000 points away from Master Scout!

Alex, moment you create a character on Infinity, mail Brillig (me).

Scouting, or anything else for that matter is very easy to get on the advanced planets with some big backup. You get 400 exp + from harvesting a rancor eg.

I should be able to get you up at least 2 trees in scout within about an hour with a little luck.

At the very least I can set you up with a bike, cash, armour, etc.

Nothing uber, but beats the hell out of hunting Chubas with a CDEF lol.

I can see that having two characters in the same galaxy is a VERY useful strategy!

As you get a month free, is it worth signing up and using that month to build up the characters?

Having 2 can be a major advantage. I ran out of skill points with 1 so I got another account so I can do other things. It has its downsides though, I often neglect 1 character and It can get quite confusing (choosing a name that was 1 letter different didnt help )

TBH I spent my free month stumbling around in awe. There is no need to rush and I would advise you to progress at your own pace, its much more fun
