What game info is on my X-Box HD? (needs warranty fix)

My X-Box 360 was a re-furb unit from Game and luckily came with 12 months warranty. Over the last few days, the DVD drive has failed to work first time when the machine is switched on (it takes several on/off cycles to get it going then it's fine).

If I take it back to Game under warranty, they will presumably just give me another re-furb machine - But does this mean I'll lose my saved game status for things like Black ops and Guitar Hero?

If I remove the HD and simply plug it into the next machine, will it all work seamlessly?

google would have been the best place to go first.
Yes plugging the hard drive into another xbox would work fine.

Take the serial number from your old xbox and keep it safe before you give it back then visit here for a seamless transfer...
