GT5...Which Wheel?

If you're thinking of spending g27/fanatec money, might be worth waiting another couple of weeks to see the new official thrustmaster wheel.
10kg for the wheel, 16 kg for the pedals, industrial motor for force feeback, and convertible pedals between floor and top mount... 150N force on the brake pedal as well...
I heard on here it will be £400, and the shifter is additional, but the specs sound very, very good.

all depends how much you want to spend tbh, If you want to spend £50 look at second hand GT force wheels *cough* mine *cough* if you want to spend under £100 a new GT force and then you jump to 2nd hand G25 or New Fanatec carrera/turbo which would be £115+, then there is the jump to where im at atm, a fanatec GT3 rs which inc pedals cost me £240. Then there is G27 at just over £300 and the Fanatec GT3 RS clubsport at 400.

Still giving good service although doesnt get used as much as Id like due to the PS3 being under the main TV and the wife not taking too well to watching TV in the bedroom that often! Got it mounted to a Wheelstand Pro though which makes all the difference, 2 minute setup and perfect position as opposed to 15 minutes dicking around with the ironing board, a bit of wood and some G clamps every time it was required, then trying to get my legs past the ironing board legs to work the pedals
The G27 is marginally better than the G25 in a couple of ways but one thing the G25 does that the G27 doesn't is allow the gear shift to be converted from H pattern to sequential shift. I know the H shifter on the G27 is meant to be nicer to use than the G25, but it's still a significant omission IMHO as I find the H pattern shift / clutch combo too hit and miss for serious gameplay. If you don't fully hold the clutch down - shift - then lift the clutch up in that order then the game (GT5 Prologue at least, not tried it on GT5 yet) would give you a false neutral maybe 20-30% of the time, which is bloody annoying and really isnt particularly realistic, you might eventually break a dog ring with a fully depressed stab of the clutch whilst you shift quickly and dont time it right but rarely will it miss a gear, and changing gear like you would on an old school bus to ensure a reliable gearchange makes you too slow, so I suspect you'd end up using the paddles all the time.
Either way though I've found the clutch and H change is nice to play around with and show your mates but in reality a rarely used feature in serious gameplay. Others might have different opinions of the H shift but for me I think something like a Driving Force GT with 2 pedal setup and sequential shifter on the main body would probably be just as good, assuming the other aspects are as good as the G25, namely feedback and the pedal / general build quality.

It works better in other games - GT5 even, isn't as picky as Prologue was.
