Ok Sorry to bring this up, I guess I'm looking like a troll.
Really the question is, what is the best for me GT5 or Forza?

I have got a PS2 and GT4 was the only game I have ever had on it.

The things I liked:
The real tracks, Ring, Monaco and others.
The classic cars, like the E-type, GT40.
Playing around with the set-up of the car.
Sticking the car on the memory card and racing my friend on his computer.

So in your opinion what am I going to find more enjoyable?

And no fighting please.

Hold your fire...It would appear that GT5 isn't finished yet - They've issued a lot of massive updates for it.

I have both consoles and both games so here's my answer...

GT5.

Not going to slag off Forza3 because it is a great game, but GT5 is a step forward in so many areas.
Handling, GT5 hands down wins this. The feel you get on standard 'comfort' tyres is utter brilliant. I thought holding slides in forza3 was good, but when compared to GT5 it's very arcade like.
Graphics, again GT5 hands down. Yes the 'standard' cars don't look as good as fm3, but in race you just will not notice. For example the 'ring is so much better in GT5, all the little details really lift the experience (try spectators actually enjoying smoking barbies when driving the 24hr layout).
Things to do, here it is subjective as fm3 has a huge amount to do, but GT5 also has loads of races plus it had the advantage of the new 'seasonal events'. These are new challenges that have recently been added by PD and will change every few weeks.

So brilliant as FM3 is (and it is a great game) GT5 for me beats it with ease.

Ps. Ive only played fm3 once since GT5 came out frown

To put it simply, you will really enjoy both.

GT5 definarely has the edge IMO but both are excellent.

Couldn't of summed it up better myself.

I've had Forza 3 for a while. I've also gone out and bought a PS3 this month, mainly so I could get my hands on GT5.

If you like sitting there in awe gawping at replays etc, GT5 slightly edges it in this respect.

However, if actual gameplay is your thing, Forza knocks GT5 into a cocked hat.

No damage as such on GT5.
From what I've seen so far, all mods are the same price whatever car you have - so much for realistic, huh.

Same with the racing and how upgrades affect your chances of winning - enter any race for the class the car you're using and with the car in standard form, and you will find it a struggle / you're unlikely to win.

Apply the same upgrades as you have to any other car, and all of a sudden you will win - doesn't work like that in Forza, as in a set receipe of mods doesn't guarantee the same level of success.

Decats and ECU upgrades for cars from the 1970s???

No brake upgrades available either.

Given they've had five years to develop the game, it's pretty shoddy IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, the detail of some of the cars is fantastic in GT5, but then it's not exactly ropey in Forza 3 either.

In short, I'm so disappointed with GT5, I've put the PS3 up for sale already and know others who have done the same.

Mine is up on Gumtree and a couple of other car forums.

Not sure about the others, but know one of them was lucky enough to be able to get a refund on his.

I constantly hear these idiots claiming gt5 unfinished and such and praising Forza in the same breath, yet they forget that forza was nigh on unplayable at release with cars bouncing out of all control and other issues! Yet GT5 is unfinished!

I've not claimed GT5 is unfinished.

I have however sussed it's overhyped and they've had five years to develop it.

Like I said above, decats and ECU upgrades for cars from the 1970s says it all when it comes to just how much attention to detail they've put into it.

Whatever problems Forza may or may not have had at the start, (I've only been playing that since the summer), has little relevance as to what someone should be buying right now, either.

'Ooh look, Forza had problems when first released as well... so they'll obviously iron out all the problems with GT5 even though they're a different developer and one that had five years to get it right in the first place' ;-)

Not fighting... just saying it how it is.

Both are worthy games, one just happens to be way superior to the other when it comes to gameplay.

As I said above, if you want shiny replays etc, GT5 is very impressive, but not to the point this overshadows those of Forza.

If you want the best gameplay on offer and variables that need thinking about rather than just applying the same receipe time after time, (as in upgrades), then go for Forza.

Personally, I think £285 to play one very flawed game is too much, hence why I'll happily offload the PS3.

(Medal of Honor is stonking on it graphically, but way too short - but then I can get this on the 360, so yet another reason to not bother with the PS3).

Not entirely sure what Sony are thinking with Playstation Home, either... Home? More like Homos! ;-)

i will say forza i dont own a PS3 with GT5 but i played it in game shop few days ago and i definitly think its unfinished. GT5 has things that forza lacks in such as different types of events and alot more cars but with GT5 only 200 cars are full detail.
i will say forza because even if forza 3 doesnt do it for you next year we have Forza 4 coming out and hopefully they will take some pages out of the GT5 book and make a epic improvement.

have to say I'm disappointed with the basic graphic mistakes in GT5. At the start of every race/test/trial the outside car shot shows a pixelated shadow from what looks like the original GT! Forza although is behind in points raised above is at least more consistant all the way through the game in terms of graphics.

Oh and not being able to change wheel types or sizes annoys me and the limited paint options is just weird.

p.s. to answer the OP - if you like the original GT tracks (which I love) and getting real feedback after tweaking the car's setup then I think GT5 will be better for you. I'm lucky that I have both but that's down to santa and g/f over the last 2 christmas' smile

GT5 kicks FM3's arse online. FM3's hopper system is terrible, they've tried to make a FPS type of online system for a racing game and it simply doesn't work. Then they've put their fingers in their ears singing "la la la can't hear you" at the FM fans complaints, and left it at that. It's ok if you have a friends list of FM players, but if you're new to the console then you're gonna get pwned by adding a lot of long time players and you'll probably get disillusioned really quickly.

GT5 has private rooms, public rooms, room personalisation and limiting - ok so it's a little bit clunky because of the underlying PS3 network architecture, but in terms of having pick up and play online fun, GT5 is where it's at for me.

Just to add some credence to this, I've got both consoles, and have achieved 1000/1000gp on both FM2 and FM3, but the FM disc hasn't gotten close to my 360 since GT5 was stuck in the PS3. It is *that* good.

No, they're not. To look at the price of buying a console to play one title is ridiculous.

The OP didn't ask about playstation home nor medal of honour so why bring them up?

I'm sorry but for turn 10 to release a definitely unplayable game is exactly relevant when people are levelling criticism at GT5 for needing any patches. To argue otherwise shows a distinct lack of logical thinking but then so does much of the rest of your post.

I made one point, which cannot be argued. It is fact that Forza 3 was not playable without patching, it is therefore ludicrous to claim GT5 is poor for requiring a patch while at the same time extolloing the virutes of Forza. Especially considering that GT5 hasn't needed a patch to make the cars drive properly, just to sort out some online issues and add events, hardly as devestating as buying a game and not being able to drive the cars without a patch.

To the OP, neither are worth buying a whole new console for, so if you already have a console, get the game that is available to you. If not, get the console that most of your friends have as they wont be able to play online with you on a different platform.
