Morning Chaps

Does anyone else find the GT5 online thing just entirely crap right now? I find myself in a constant state of waiting to enter a room, and then when i get in the room they've started a race (when i entered it was saying it had not started), or the room owner simply refuses to start the race ?

I spent the best part of an hour last night desperately trying to find a 1 or 2 lap race of the ring and spent nearly all of the time arsing around going in and out of different rooms watching the progress bar. I tried to create my own room and it chucked some error up and kicked me out. Each and every time i quit a room i ended up on the GT5 home page rather than the server/room browser screen. Meaning i have to re-enter the bloody browser every time i leave a room. How did this slip though testing - its st!

Then once in a promising looking room there were the elitist germans, which kicked me out of a room because i had a union jack by my name. I was particularly annoyed by this - not because of the nationality predjudice, but more because the format of all M3's going round the ring, and 1 brit amongst a pack of germans appealed to me hehe

Another observation was the way other cars behaved on track - they seem to move erratically and crab down the road at times. It means close racing is completely out of the question and cars getting punted off. Now i could apportion that to the dedicated 1.5mb connection its running on perhaps, but i would have thought that would be more than sufficient!? I have access to a 20mb virgin connection in my house as well but the PS3 keeps disconnecting from that router for some reason. Old school but Is cat5 the way to go for a smoother race ?

Just completely frustrated on how clunky and st the online aspect is right now - i'm hoping things will improve soon.

join the PH 400hp 1200kg thread, there is nearly always at least 1 person online hosting a room.

good close and friendly racing.

Are you running on wireless at the moment. If so, yes, I would definitely change over to wired.

Yeah the PS3 has always been wireless to date (Full signal). I can run a cat 5 cable if i have to and means the cars stop jumping around smile

Remember that no matter how good your download speed if the other peoples upload speed and ping is rubbish then the cars will still jump about.

I have had this frustration a few times too, messing around for ages trying to find a decent room to race in. The search function should be improved to allow you to do a more comprehensive search. The new update 1.05 will apparently be making some big changes to online. Adding restricted events and also allowing you to earn money\xp for online races. Not had a chance to try them yet though.

Yeah i've learned that the hard way over the years - there was me thinking i was st on team fortress 2 - it was lag from some fool in eastern europe on a 56k modem 9 times out of 10 hehe

I don't supppose you can set connection prerequisites on a game room in GT5 ? Make sure everyones got a good connection ? Or even a display that shows other peoples pings or something? or is it a case of go racing and see if everyone starts smashing into each other and then hunt down the felon? biggrin
