Wii - which accessories are necessary?

My 15yo daughter has Down's syndrome, and would enjoy/benefit from/cope with the games on a Wii. I'm new to this, and need a quick list of what bits you need and which you don't. WTF is a nunchuck? How many controllers do you need, are they corded or wireless? There seem to be different packages - Sports resort, Fit plus Motion plus.....head spinning - help please!

Firstly when you buy a Wii you usually recieve one free game (Wii sports which is rather good) and one Wii remote controller and one nunchcuk which is what you connect to the Wii controller when you are playing a game that requires two hands. the Wii remote is wireless also.

Wii sports resort is similar to wii sports that you get free with the wii buts it's got different games on it basically. The wii motion plus comes with wii sports resort and it is a small unit that clips on the wii controller to make it more sensitive but it's not neccesary.
Wii fit is a game that comes with a wireless balance board that you stand on to play the game but wii fit has turned out to be abit of a fad really so I wouldn't recommend it.

So basically what i'd get is

1x Wii (Comes with free wii sports game)

Another Wii controller and nunchuck for when you want to play two player.

And another game that your interests your daughter. For instance if she is into animals there are lots of virtual pets games etc.

4 and a charger can work out about £10-15 and will last years.

Also, Mario Kart is great for the wii too, you get a plastic steering wheel that the wii remote slots into, it's not strictly needed, but its great all the same.

She'll have a great time.

I got the rechargeable kit for my kid's Wii. IIRC 2 battery packs and a double charger cost about £30.

A big plus one for Mario Kart, best game on the Wii. Mario and Sonic Olypmic games are great as well.

Get as many controllers as you can afford (well up to 4) as the Wii is best played in groups.

Your daughter will love it.

You were duped! You dont need battery packs, just the batteries.

Any rechargeable AA batteries will do.

This one has a better current rating so will last longer between charges. Personally I use 2650mA batteries in my Xbox 360, and they last about 10 days on a charge. (2-4 hours per day)
