Please Help a novice re GT5 Load issues !!

Hi Folks

I've recently bought a PS3 and GT5 too

I'm unable able to load GT events, I thought it was the disc however I've sent it back & received a new copy & got the same issue. when I select GT, it just hangs with the music playing & the GT logo. I left it for 45 mins & still nothing

I have had the PS3 2 weeks its 160gb. I have not connected it to the internet yet at all.

Could this be the reason? do I need some sort of update to make the game or PS3 work properly.

I can play arcade fine & have played Prlogue & NFS Shift, without issue
I've checked the space on the machine & there is plenty of space.

I am missing something or doing something wrong??
Could it be the PS3 is faulty?

It's driving me nuts so any help would really welcome

Try disabling internet (even if you're not on net) from the network setting on the XMB menu and try again

Check what firmware your PS3 is running. It will be in Settings, System settings, System information

I think it needs to be 3.5 or higher for GT5, although you would expect it to tell you your firmware needs updating if that is the issue.

The ps3 needs to be on the net, for it to check and update.

Connect yours to the net op, then run through the system updates.

Edit* there has been a update for gt5 itself, so run that, it will pop up once the game starts, if you are on the net.
