In car camera

How hard or easy do you guys find it driving from inside the car, as if the camera is on your face?

I myself find it very hard to drive in this camera mode, i prefer to use the view from behind the car. I might have to get some practice in before gt5 because the in car graphics are too good to miss.

Depends on the game. Sometimes I prefer the chase view; the in-car doesn't always give a feeling of how wide the car is and I end up clipping stuff, especially on apexes.

You would have thought it, but I just can't get on with it. Probaly because you can't move your head as easily on the game where as in a car you can.

I also find it hard to get on with in car camera angles, I find it hard to judge where the apex usualy is. It's not like being in a car it's like being in a car strapped in a neck brace and not being able to move your eyes for peripheral vision. I will however keep trying when GT5 is released.

I don't usually like the incar view as there is so much cluttering the screen, when in real life it is in your peripheral vision and you don't notice it. It might be better on a decent size TV though.

I always use the bonnet cam, I find the chase cam not involving enough...

ETA: I thought about it on the drive back from work, and if I had a 60" TV about half a meter in front of my face, then it would be like real life.

I only use it (if it's available). I can't get on with chase cameras, I can't seem to aim the car where I want it to, or correct slides at all. I've tried drifting with chase on. And I can't do it at all, but I can hold slides for hours on forza in cockpit view!

Cockpit view all the time for me since I started using it 6 months ago, find it alot more satisfying, particularly when you have a dab of opposite

I prefer bumper view - as said, cockpit views tend to show everything you ignore in real life.

Forza 3 I won't use anything but the in car view but with more arcadey games I normally use an outside view from behind the car.

In a real car the dash is effectively around you, with the in-car view in games its 6 to 10ft away (depending if I'm playing on the PC or the TV) and a bit intrusive, bumper cam ftw.

Difference being, in real life you can feel what the car is doing. I only ever use the chase cam, can't get on with anything else, you can see what the car is doing, weight transfer and slip angles and stuff.

I corner best with the bonnet view. I do like the cockpit though and will use it if I'm mucking about.

Bumper cam for GT, above cockpit for F1. Feel on GT using bumper cam I get the car right into the corner where I want it, whereas I can actually see the corner on F1

I've always used the chase cam as I too find it easier to control the car.

Looking at steering wheels now the DF GT is looking nice to me. Got to wait for my wages to come thorugh first!

I like bumper cam, so the fact the vast majority of GT5s cars don't have an interior doesn't bother me, I'll be in my DB7 quite a bit and that's standard.

I dont like the in-car effect. Especially in GT-5, I don't like the fact that you can't see the whole dash/windscreen like you could in real life. Doesn't allow you to know where the NS is properly. I prefer bonnet camera normally.

I always like the bumper cam. Easier to tell what the car's pointing at, and it feels like you're going faster. Well, does to me anyway...

(I mostly drive forwards, though; things would probably be different if I spent a lot of time going sideways.)

Depends on the game imho. I was much better on Rallysport Challenge 2 inside the car, while I can't really get on with the cockpit view in PGR4.
