After my trip down memory lane in the other thread, I wanted to create a thread to revive some fond memories of past gems found, even if they have gone on to be world class and well known players. Heres my examples:

GK: Akinfeev / Ochoa / Enyeama
DR: Van Den Borre / Rafinha / Cassani
DL: Rat / Zonneveld / Baines
DC: Said / Dalton / Barzagli / Kompany / Milito
MC: Gronlund / Kallstrom / Veloso / Essien / Messi
MR: Bakirkiglou / Sneijder / Affellay
ML: Ibrahimovic / Gamst Pedersen / Van Der Vaart / Mattias Fernandez / Fleck / Adu
STR: Dagoberto / Tsigalko / Cavenaghi / Neymar (x2)

Theres loads of others I cant remember, im sure others will mention some faves of mine, theres one that sticks out and I cannot think of his name, he was a Brazilian AML from the 2008-2009 games, used to play for Ajax, was £3m in the earlier game and a couple of hundred thousand in the later - he had dribbling and technique of 19/20 for each banghead anyone remember his name?

I can't remember which iteration it was (although it was still CM rather than FM back then) but for a time Neil Lennon was the must-have midfielder. And Erik Nevland could be picked up for a song and was a guaranteed 20-goal-a-season striker.

Ah, happy days. I don't PC game any more, and my brief flirtation with FM on the Xbox 360 a couple of years ago just didn't do it for me..... Just as well, perhaps - now I'm married with a daughter, I simply couldn't afford to lose the amount of time to it that I used to back in my bachelor days!

FM2006 Tevez I think is the best buy straight out of the box (if you’re a big club).

Champ 97/98

Now we're talking.

Ibrahim Bakayoko - scored dozens for me.

Phill Babb - always ended up worth millions when I played him.

I seem to remember that you could always get Fowler on a free than sell him a few weeks later for about £12m

There was always a 14 /15 year old kid from one of the Finnish kids who if you could get him to sign turned out to be awesome.

Cna't for the life of me remember his name though.

Bakayoko though was my first signing for every club I ever managed!

yes Couldn't you also buy Leo Messi in the same game for a couple of million?

If i remember correctly from a long time ago, possibly Championship Manager 3 (anyone else remember it?) there was a young man called Luke Chadwick playing for United. He was about 18 and always sold at the start of the game for millions. Tipped to be a big star, he now plays for the MK Dons...

yes

This player was quality although his stats were never much to look at. Played AMF and scored more goals than games year after year!

Other players I found before they got famous (not that hers was famous)

Saviola
Kaka
Diego
Srna
Hamsik
Vela
Aguero
Frey
Breno
Rafina
Okaka
Van der vaart
Sahin

Loads more but getting off the train now...

There was a class Portuguese winger I used to sign called Fabio Paim, snap him up at 15 and he could slot straight into a premier league team, right or left and consistently score 7.20 etc. At 15!!!

Anyone else find it wierd when eventually put pictures in the game? Kennedy Backigoluru (sp) looked nothing like I imagined, he's bald!

Champ 97/98 was the version I played most.. once you worked out what happened to players in the future it became quite interesting. As mentioned above, Bakayoko was one of the best real players you could get although he wasnt exactly cheap.

Unfortunately I used to start with either Sheffield Wednesday or Doncaster Rovers, Sheff Wed were in the Premiership but didnt have much pull for the big players.

I cant believe none of you picked up the best defensive midfielder in the game.... Tommy svindal-larsen. used to average late 7`s or sometimes into the 8`s in the prem league

The one I remember was a certain Andreas Iniesta. He was about 18 on the version I last played and always worth picking up.
