Is Broadband worth it just for games, does it really make the game playable ie CFS2 or well some of the other games I dont play cos I dont have Broad B.??

The last trip into mulitplayers was flashpoint and shogun but lagging and cutting off made it too painful.

Am I missing a new world? ie farcry?

oh , you are certainly missing a new world I upgraded to broadband (from 33.6 line) and I can play online games, download anything I want at respectable speeds (for instance I downloaded the new season of 24 and Alias as it's not showing of terrestial TV and I don't have Sky).

It also makes browsing a doddle

I think he meant "I can now play online....". As he plays on jolt servers.

I used to play on a 56k modem and really never had that many problems. Mainly CS and DOD but I had
1) A decent modem not some £4 soft modem job
2) A decent phone line 48 to 50k connections
3) I found freeserve to be reasonable for speed.

BUT broadband well that a different kettle of fish

, yes I mean I can play online!

I had a decent modem and everything else but the line had DACs on it which meant I was running at half baud. Which wasn't nice.

Thoroughly recommend it - you will never go back to dial-up!

I don't play games but the difference in browsing speed makes it all worthwhile. It changes the way you use the net too - my machine is online at least 12 hours/day. The usefulness of being able to be on the phone whilst browsing is not to be underestimated either!

Are you thinking of ADSL or cable?

Ran a 512K BB connection for a year ish after running 56k for, well .. quite a while..

What a difference.. The internet becomes useable!

Now it's a 2Mb pipe, and that is another kettle of fish all together!

Big downloads, Xbox live, radio streaming, all at the same time, without any problems.

AND i'm only paying 35quid for the 2mb pipe!

Woo Hoo

It's through Central Point. They use BT Datastream in conjunction with Telefonica to deliver high speed at low cost.

I've had no issues with them, but colleagues have had one or two problems.
