Xbox 360 Autumn Update today

A fairly large update to the Xbox 360 update today when I switched it on, took about 10-15 minutes and it froze the first attempt leaving me to de-power at the screen which warns against it!!

Just a heads up as you can't avoid this update if you want to continue using Xbox live.

Doesn't seem any quicker to browse all the menus , just a different style that's all.

That will be to enable all of the Kinect functionality.

well I can't update, says not connected even thought my PC is working fine, Wifi laptop etc... I've not changed anytyhing and have my 360 plugged into my router.

for edit says soemthing about MTU Router 1364 but never had any issues before

Just doing mine and it's all worked fine. It's a pretty rubbish layout now though stupid kinecet stuff!

Mine froze 1st attempt, now it's giving me a Status code '23EF-3143-A080-0C00-8077-2746' But the support website seems to be overloaded and refuses to run .

http://forums.xbox.com/34830060/ShowPost.aspx Looks like its a PITA for most but the sucessful downloaders don't appear to like it (then again I didn't like the last update either).

thats just what I have

it said about the Mtu but checked my router and the settings are correct for the update and just wrote down that code to send to xbox supprt but cant get on

Now after 20 attempts appears to have downloaded

However its all rather large and retina destroyingly bright, like an old Windows 98/ME colour scheme.

and to add insult to injury I've wasted so much time sorting it that it's now time to go again

fixed it by turning xbox off then turning xbox on - then it installed fine.

as for the dashboard style... meh, its alright

Mine is the base model arcade, only about 2 months old though.

It's a lot nicer for browsing through the game marketplace – you can see more of the categories at any one time. And it'll just show you downloads for games you own if you like. And they look like banishing all the crappy Lips/RockBand 69/Guitar hero hourly DLC into its own little area of hate. Which is nice.

Not too keen on the update either - The entire theme feels a bit 'Windows Mobile' to me! It's almost as if Microsoft are shifting towards the family market (to steal some sales from the Wii) and in turn have taken the previous XBox interface and made it all soft. What's with the new XBox splash screen!?

I realise that this update ties in with the release of the Kinect device, which Microsoft obviously hope will inspire other family members to play (See XBox Live Gold Family Membership deals) and therefore have to cater to a wider audience. However, have you seen some of the Kinect specific games being released this month? Not particularly inspiring!

Also, just seen the membership costs for Zune on-demand music ... ~£90 for the year!
