mafia wars II - any good? redead redemption - any good?

Looking at getting a new game and have been taken by these two, any one played them that can give me a real life unbiased review? either worth forking out for?

Not played Mafia Wars but Red Dead Redemption is superb, in my top few games I've played on the 360. They've also released the Undead Nightmare DLC for it, not downloaded it yet but IGN gave it 10/10.

played both - red dead redemption (especially with the new zombie dlc) is supreme... mafia 2 - controls are iffy and driving is a pain. Music is good though!

If it was me, I'd either go for RDR and the DLC or if you haven't already, get GTA 4 and the Stories from Liberty City pack (or download the two DLC packs that make it up) - Both infinitely better than Mafia 2...

I was disappointed with GTA4, the missions werent exactly exciting, and the music isnt my taste, are the DLC packs much improvement or more of the same?

The music isn't to your taste? There are about 20 different channels, playing all sorts of different music, surely there must be something there you like?

OK, going back to the original question, Mafia 2 is a string of average missions dotted around a city, with no real reason for the city to be there, apart from it being the in-thing to do.

Red Dead is brilliant, all the goodness of GTA, but with cowboys and every epic moment from a spaghetti western rolled in. The Undead Nightmare add-on as mentioned is great fun once you've finished the main game. I'd say there are elements of an RPG in there too, in that you can quite easily find yourself running off into the countryside and picking flowers and herbs, or hunting and skinning the native wildlife (just watch out for those pesky Cougars).

I thought mafia was quite atmoshperic and loved the city during different seasons weather and era.

The driving was really good imho (i swithed it to simulation) and the tuning overlay was a nice touch but largely superfluous.

RDR is a way better game than mafia 2. RDR is more like a sandbox whereas mafia 2 is more like a movie (not a very long one at that and the sttiest ending ever)
