Any die hard counter strike fans on PH?

Surely we should all get together and have a few matches or hassle a public server at one point!

Doesn't matter if your not that good - I can carry the team

You can download steam and buy it through the store, hours of fun if it's your kind of thing.

Doesn't take long to download the game either.

ETA: "copy" - I don't think that is possible because its all through steam and steam acts like a DRM

I used to be pretty hardcore at CS, never really got into CS:S but it should be pretty much the same so I'd play if a game was on.

funnily enough I downloaded it again the other day and had a quick play.

Nowhere near as good as I used to be and didnt stay too long as I got impatient at the wait between games.

Would be up for some PH games if they happen!

Does that version still work and communicate with all these Steam versions?

If by "copy" you meant pirated material, yes, you can get it pirated but it's not worth it since you can only play on a very limited number of servers. Steam/Valve have a reasonably complex ID checking system and all the popular decent servers all report to Valve. Somewhat to do with anti-piracy measures and somewhat to do with anti-cheat measures. The pirate-friendly servers usually get pretty loaded down with people cheating and that's no fun.

It was and it will work fine, but it'll take a lot of updating. HL2 and CS: S bound to a steam account if you played it through steam, counter-strike source is still essentially the same game as when it first came out, just make sure you can remember your steam account and password if it is bound.

I do enjoy a little CS: S myself and I'd certainly be up for a match with anyone. I can host a server, though it might be a little laggy... I don't really know how many players my connection could cope with.

Been playing CS for 10 years and still play nearly every day.

Moved onto custom maps and currently playing DM on fy_two_towers_32b on The Tournament server.

Try a deathmatch server....no waiting to respawn and it will re-sharpen your skills.

got it listed as not installed, might as well change that and find the anti cheating is great

recall tiberian sun with modded maps where the host could win and no-one else ever could, stopped playing the game as the cheats made it pointless

Kind of topic linked, but can you download the original Half Life from steam as well? Really fancied playing this a couple of months back but couldn't find my original disc.

I was always playing this but haven't for a good 18 months or so. The reason being my flat 'mate' like to download constantly 7 days a week and therefore when I try and play online I can't get a good ping and lag far to much.

Would love to play it again though.

It's still THE BEST fps shooter on the PC.


Helps when you find a good server with a decent bunch of lads.

Middle Aged Gamers {MAG} is the one I spend most of my time on (when the damned pc is working)

Any of [YUK]'s servers are a safe bet too.

sniper_supreme is my steam ID.

Yes.

And, steam auto-updates......so it's always the latest version

think you have to have bought it on steam or have a licence key (usually on the box)
