Stuggling with trying to write txt with my steering wheel when doing online F1 races, thinking of going for a headset.

Any recommendations / tips / etc before I head to the nearest Game and buy the cheapest one I find?

I got the Sony one. It took about 3 seconds to attach it to the PS3 and it was worked pretty well, has a mute button and I don't sound like I'm conducting a dirty phone call, unlike some people on-line.....

+1 on the official sony one, has enhanced audio quality and when the battery goes flat, has a neat dock that turns it into a "room" mic when you plug it in and switches the audio to your speakers!

I have PX21's, they are very nice indeed. You might not want to spend £60 on a headset though. If you aren't going to use it for Call of Duty type games then you would probably be fine with a standard headset and have you game sound come through your TV/sound system.

Do you want game noise through the headset? If you do get the turtle beach ones.
If you dont then get the Sony one.

I've got the Sony one and its bloody excellent because it's designed for the ps3 and works perfectly with mute and everything

any bluetooth headset you have from your mobile phones will work just fine.

if you want headphones + mic then get the turtle beach, but if its jusy for talking any old blutooth will do the job.

Sorry that's crap!

I had a nokia one before and it was nowhere near as good as the sony one, there is no charging dock so if the battery goes flat you need to plug it in and can no longer talk. There is no mute button and the sound quality is inferior. It was also a couple of pounds more expensive than the sony one (when I bought it probably not now!) so not all headsets are created equal!

This, people using mobile headsets on COD are useless, I end up muting a lot of them

I got some Logitech headset for about £20 I think. But not fully compatible with the PS3 frown

No idea of the clarity of my voice, but...my volume control for the headphones is inoperative. So, I have to set the TV volume to compete with it...lame.

Get-Karter, just out of interest - could you hear me?

Just noticed this....

....yes I could hear you, very faintly. I guessed that was because I didn't have a headset so was just getting it a bit through the speakers, mixed with the F1 game sound.

So speak up a wee bit and it'll be about right.

I have bought the PS3 headset now.
Was online earlier on, but I was only PHer with a headset, so don't know if it worked.

I use the Nokia BH-214 that came with my mobile, with iPod earphones , works well I find and the battery goes for about 5 days racing between charges.

No and No basically

they are wired but have a long wire

you loose sound quality with anything wireless so wired is better if you can live with the wire
