How much does an hour playing COD MW2 use of my, for example, 40gb monthly download limit?

More than enough.

I have 10GB and even with heavy downloading and downloading demos and DLC I still haven't gone above that.

This is an xbox though...

Most online games use little - even with voice chat it's not a bandwidth intensive activity. Latency is more critical.

Use away - 40gb would be fine...

Just tried TalkTalk first.

Horrid, horrid phone call. Script reader on the other end folded on the installation fee of £79.99 based on one off the cuff comment from me, which was nice, but what wasn't nice was the lack of clarity, crap 'reassurance' salesman's patter, the EXTREMELY hurried/buried mention of '24 month contract' and the fact he got as far as confirming he was sending me paperwork and arranging an engineer before I ever said I'd accept the quote.

When you have found from SamKnows what is available, look for the unbundled providers. If Be/O2 is there and you have an O2 mobile, go with O2. Excellent latency figures and they never seem to get congested like the non-unbundled ISPs.

Worth noting the LLU'd by either is great and always reviews well, however The non-LLU'd alternatives are dire from what I've seen and heard.

I'm with Be on 24mbit and it's amazing, but the 2 mates I know with non-LLU'd O2 BB due to it not being available in their exchange, despise it.

If you have an Orange or O2 mobile go with either's LLU service for best value.

I've just moved over to Orange, 20mb services, unlimited downloads, LLU based, £7.50 a month but 4 months free (got an extra month due to router parcel delivery issue). I've moved my landline/calls to them too, in 4 months time it'll be £17.50 a month.

Also a wad of cashback via quidco...
