Help!! PS3 Software has failed...

Can anyone recommend where to get my PS3 sorted? Preferably in West Midlands while i wait...

I'm pretty sure it's a bad sector on the hard drive as I accidently turned it off mid load, it rebooted to the 'wavy PS3' screen but with no icons loading.

I then did the hold Power Button down a few times to reset it but have managed to get to a point where just a black screen appears.

So I think I need some sort of software overwrite but not sure where to go. Didn't really want to send to Sony UK as I heard they just swap with whatever machine is available (mine is an original 60GB machine).

There are plenty of online places to send them mate. Sony would replace it yes, but only with another 60g one. So you wouldn't be any worse of. Apart from the £130 that is.

Can't you just connect your HDD to a caddy then pull off all the saves you need, then do a format on it?

Then put the formatted drive into the PS3, and it will reload all the software needed, then pull pack out and connect to caddy again, put your saves back on, and bobs your mothers uncles dog walker.
