PS3 steering wheel?

I was thinking about this to try and a) improve my NFS: Shift times and b) give me a fighting chance when GT5 is eventually released.

I saw the Logitech G25 recommended... Then I saw the price tag!

Is there anything around the £100 mark that is sufficient? Or is it the situation that if I cheap out on the wheel, I may as well just stick with the controller?

The Logitech somethingorother GT wheel looks OK but has the gearstick attached from what pictures I could see. Is that a problem?
