Hard drive on slim Xbox 360

Is it a standard hard drive or has it been Microsoftified? Looking to buy a new Xbox soon and the 4gb slim is tempting, but can I get any hard drive to fit in or will I have to pay through the nose for one?

Yes it's non standard, the offical xbox transfer cable will not connect to the new slim 250gb drive, the edge connector on the slim 250gig is different.

The only way to transfer from a slim to another xbox is to plug the transfer usb end into the slim and the other end onto a normal xbox360 hard drive this includes the 250gb elite.

The slim hard drive looks a bit like a 2,5" Sata, never bothered to look to see if it actually is a standard sata, what with it been microshalf I doubt it.

The slim drive pushes into the slim at a 90 degree angle to the side a bit like a laptop drive but on its side which is accessed through a small removable cover.

They probably will be, but they will be special firmware drives on a particular brand that will work only I would imagine.

They could well be, I'm not near mine to have a look, the drive is still encased in a microsoft caddy, plugging a sata connector on will be probmatic, no doubt ebay will have something very shortly.
