Modern Warfare 2 - its been months and i've been left behind

What with a combination of BC2 & Red Dead Redemption I probably havent switched COD MW2 on for 5 - 6 months. Having recently finished RDD and grown a bit frustrated with its multiplayer, i thought i would get all nostalgic and dip my toe back in the warm waters of MW2.

And it all justs eems to be a little too frantic. Everyone seems kitted out with light weight and either twin sawn off shotties or sniper rifles, running around faster than me and just blasting.
It felt Arcade-y when i last played it, now it seems ridiculous.

And not particularly enjoyable.

Is it just me?

I just gone back after a bit of Fallout and GT5P, it will take a few games to get back into the swing of thing. At first it seems like everyone is on fast-forward but you'll soon get used to it again

Got bored of it, left it and traded it in for Red Dead. Not missing this game and have no desires to return to it.

I did play it round my friend's house the other week though and it did seem really fast and frantic. I think you just need to get used to it again.

I did exactly the same as you,albeit my games of choice were Red Dead and Splinter Cell Conviction.
Turned MW2 on the other day,had one game and switched it off. I like the Single Campaigns but Multiplayer is full of idiots, constant Care Packages and people using Commando to knife me from 100M away.
I'll be trading it in to use towards a new game that tickles my fancy.

i loved rainbow 6 vegas 2, bought MW2 the other day and its nowhere near as good imo, i think the other one i looked at was splinter cell rogue agent, is that like R6 to play?

It' the very reason why I haven't played it for months. The game became too much about sniping or shot guns and blatant run-a-rounds.

Not my thing. Too arcadey.

I liked the first one where rifles / SMGs and skills were order of the day. I blame it on the shotguns and the level design.

What game mode were you playing?

If you want to break yourself back in gently, don't play Domination or TDM as these are the most frenetic IME. Try Search & Destroy, a hardcore mode, or possibly FFA.

I've got 24 days played and do enjoy it, but at times it can be one of the most frustrating games ever. At times it can be very rewarding though, like when I called in a Precision Airstrike yesterday and got a 7 man multi-kill.

I sold it and rebought it, playing with a bunch of mates is better. Not ventured back into a public lobby, i'll give it a blast tonight. I'm certainly not shelling out for the ridiculously expensive map packs though.

Ground War Domination on Trailer Park, I say 7 man, I don't know the exact number as the killfeed isn't long enough to show it, but it was at least 7 - possibly the whole team of 9 as the XP went up to 450 (at 50 a kill).

I then called in a Stealth Bomber and got.....2 kills.

Its never going to satisfy everyone, on here we've had so many people say 'I hate this style of player, I play like this instead' then others coming on condemning that style of play. If you play with friends you can normally get a good game, I'm still loving it, although I only play HCTDM, and tend to be around during the day more than the evenings, so tend not to get the gobby little sh*tes playing (god I hate school holidays!)

I had a couple of weeks away from MW2 and it took a while to get back into it. I am still very much addicted and like others have said it's the little things that make it worthwhile. I killed 4 people with a semtex in FFA last night. How I don't know but it felt bloody good

Maybe its because i have spent the last 3 months loping around on a horse in RDD...? Having read everyones thoughts, i may give it another chance tonight. I hadn't mentioned another factor is the mass of school children (UK & US) playing and bratting that contribute to the lack of enjoyment.

MW2 just annoyed me with the cheats and the lag. Plus no vehicles means I prefer BC2, juumping into a tank and mowing down the enemy soldiers is great fun, or blowing buildings to smithereens....

Ah, Fallout, I might put that back on soon, but it's a bit of a time vampire.....

I'm pretty fed up of reading ' Server connection timed out ' just as i call in an AC-130.

Hardcore Team Deathmatch is pretty calm compared to most, and Barebones does away with all killstreaks so that is slightly less extreme too. Also depends on which maps you get dropped on...
