Demo out today.
As this is primarily console-orientated forum, I suspect many of you either missed out (or had the crap port) of Mafia 1, an absolutely stunnning game that easily topped GTA at the time for story, style, characterisation and atmosphere. Shame that those who tried it dismissed it based on a 'slow' start.
Demo of the sequal is out now, 360 & PC. Its well worth checking out. Full game out at the end of the month.

Mafia 1 is one of my all time favourite games.
After getting used to the polish of GTA and Red Dead, I am left a little underwhelmed. I had great fun with it last night, but the actual shooting, character controls and driving do not stand up to R*'s efforts. To be fair, Mafia vs GTA is like comparing an Audi with a Bentley.
Soundtrack is brilliant, and importantly, I still had a huge amount of fun. No need to cancel my preorder. Phew.
Oh, and can anyone else confirm this. Everything had a hint of blue, which was especially noticeable on the blacks such as the hair or suit - like a poor quality LCD with the backlight on full brightness. Ever other game runs perfectly.

This on PC or 360? An associate reckons the 360 version is poor compared to the PC version, suffering from tearing and FPS issues.The PC version suffers from sluggish controls as standard because mouse smoothing is on. Make sure you turn if off.

First one on Xbox was bloody good, loved the storyline and the way it progressed. Good gameplay too, shame about fairly poor graphics.
The graphics were poor because the game used the original Hidden & Dangerous engine. Plus Mafia had been out for quite some time before it hit the PS2 and XboxJust had a quick go at the demo on the PC.
Surprised by how pretty it was compared to how smoothly it ran on my mediocre graphics card. Now it's got me listening to 50s blues on Spotify.
I also quite like the way the cars handle like you'd expect big American barges from that era to handle...like a boat! I did only have a go in the car you get from the garage so far though.
