How much for a second-hand xbox 360?

My 360 spat it's dummy out a couple of months ago and despite trying to do a self-fix on it (renewing the thermal paste) it is still fubar'd (although I did manage to get 30 mins of MW out of it before it died again ). I'm fed up trying to fix it so am getting rid; also I can't send it back to MS as I've opened it up (it was over 3 years old anyway).

A friend of a friend has offered me his perfectly fine 360 as he was planning to ebay it; he's told me I can have first dibs if we can agree on a close-to-ebay price for it. I've been trying to id prices for a while but getting varying results; everything from £45 up to £140 for a used console; considering you can buy an arcade new for ~£100, how much do you reckon is a fair price? It would be for console and controller only.

I have asked him what he'd be happy to take, but he's keeping pretty schtum and seems to want me to make the first offer.

If it's Jasper chipset maybe £100 - if not, tops £50 as it's just going to rrod sooner or later, more likely sooner

I wouldnt even touch a second hand 360 (any model) for 100 quid, when you can buy a brand new elite for 140.

My thoughts exactly; TBH I'm not a heavy-gamer, only play every now and again, so spending anything more than £50 on something that's more than likely to die on me (his console is the same age as mine) is pointless. I think I might just hold-off for the time being and just buy a new console in a while.

Graham is a really nice guys knows his stuff and great value for money.
I got my PS3 repaired (blueray motor failed), an old xbox repaired and bought another second hand PS3 60G for very reasonable money.

And he did it all in a couple of days.

How old is it? If out of warranty I wouldn't touch it, if in warranty, £50 at best. I'd just buy a new one - get an Arcade model and reuse your old HDD.

Just get a new Elite, they can be had for silly money considering what you get.
