i got the 1st colin mcrae rally game but cant reach its expert status, even though i got on the podium of the intermediate champs - so how do i get higher [expert]??????

Haven't you got win a championship to advance a level. Bottom step is no good - you need to reach the top step.

Don't even bother continuing unless you win each rally. That method worked for me

i came third at intermediate level,
tho i could get 2nd, but doubt i'd get 1st - shit its so hard.

so should i give up then?

Just persevere.

I found that with Colin Macre games, just slow down, take it easy and you will be quicker!!

Assuming that you have a decent Force-Feedback wheel (if not, then get one), then concentrate on being as smooth as possible. Remember sideways through the corner is fine, but the sooner you are pointing straight coming out of the corner, the faster you will be.

On the tarmac rallies make sure that you don't get the car too sideways, on gravel rallies, make sure you set the car up for the corner early. I found that setting the brake bias to the rear helped, so I could use a dab of the brakes to unsettle the car as I went into the corners - this is down to personal preference though
