Fantastic!

A lot sooner than I was expecting, rumour had it we would be waiting till 4th quarter of this year.

Now all I need is a release date for world of warcraft...

Peterpeter - from what I gather (whilst fiddling with the kid's PS2), you need an adapter thingy for the PS2. It comes with an ethernet port on it. I don't know about dial up...

There are a whole host of PS2 peripherals available in Japan that have never seen the light of day over here (or the US for that matter).

There are currently hard drives, modems, keyboards etc and internet play games.

Im assuming that if GT4 can be played over the net then this would be the driver for launching the peripherals to allow it in other territories.

*Hoping for multiplayer online GT4*

I'm a BT broadband customer and currently have the PS2 hooked up to the net(fantastic! ). Like ErnestM said, you'll need an adaptor which connects to the rear of the PS2(PCWorld = £30). I signed up to BTbroaband with the optional(well £60) online gameplay, it came with a special modem/router which is connected to both the PS2 and PC.

More and more games are starting to contain online gameplay so it's definitely worth it.

Read a Sony press release today that now has the release date for GT4 as 'Autumn 2004', so more delays. However they did also confirm a 6 player on-line mode and PS2 hard drive support. The hard drive (40gig I believe)is being release shortly in the US, but has not yet been confirmed for the UK.

The endurance races are the best part, nothing like seeing how many times you can lap the field.

In HMV in the UK it says it should be out by April 4th. I don't know who to believe.

Best bit? I only like them when you win in a really unexpected car thats tuned to the max against a Toyota GT1 OR Nissan R390.

I got the Autumn release date from the gamesradar.com site, which is normally very acurate, they stated this was from a SOny press release, if you have a look around the SOny site I'm sure you could dig it up.

On a personal level I would not trust HMV to give me a release date for a CD let alone a game.

I hate the endurance races, in fact I've only managed to 'endure' one of them (and that was using the Escudo Pikes Peak & rubber band cheat round the Speedway track ).

Just soooo booooring going round the same track for 2 hours

The Deep Forest circuit is probably my favourite, in something light and powerful like the 787b.

GT4 prologue is out in Japan - it's a taster for the full version (rather like a single off an album). This will be available in the uk in a few months with the full game available this autumn.

Are you sure that GT4 Prologue will be out in Europe, everything I have read has indicated that it had a Japanese only release.

Personally I'd rather they worked on GT4, than waste time on a PAL conversion of a demo.

Yeah, I believe the demo is only compatable with the asian ps2 versions. If you have a modded ps2 you could order it from japan, but otherwise, no demo for u.

You obviously don't work in software development.
