..is up on the Playstation store (no need to register on web pages and solve puzzles etc - which is what you had to do to get the demo a while ago!).It's got mixed reviews. Some say it looks amazing but is a bit clunky control wise, others say they got used to it and now love it and some say it's nothing more than an interactive movie.

Decide for yourselves!

At least I can wipe the dust off the PS3 now biggrin

shall download it, seems quite an interesting game and a bit out on its own in terms of what its trying to achive. Figures crossed it will be better than the last one the guy made with 900000 quick time events

No, that's completley different - it's about the game, not the demo.

Look how many threads MW2, Forza etc have..

Just because you're the OP of the other thread wink

i reckon it makes sense to have them all in one thread otherwise its a pain trying to go through all the different threads - nice and tidy.

the original Op should of done a search first - in a perfect world that is. ;-)

Anyway i have just played this demo again and this time i beat up the guy in the sleazy place - its amazing how many times you play it and it turns out different each time - i reckon this game is going to be epic.

A proper adult game - it makes a change from the FPS games I usually play.

Roll on the 26th!

I did a search and there wasn't a thread for the demo, so I posted.I assume that in your perfect world, your post regarding the game would be sugar coated, have your name in flashing LED's and would be a 'sticky'? For the record, when I searched, I noticed the game was mentioned several times before you posted anything about it, so I guess you are not as "tidy" as you think you are wink

I can see why people may dislike the controls. You walk with the R2 button and point the stick.A bit odd to start with, but you can get used to it.Graphics seemed to range from very nice, to fuzzy and having to do a special move on the stick to open a car door etc, may not be everyones cup of tea, but it was different enough to make me inetersted in the final product.Expect lots of button pushing and quick time events!

got demo last week with the mystery game thingy.

Definitely getting the game, guy I know has played it through about three times and still wants more, he played the review code and then got the retail copy and still wants to play it! He says the game is substantially different each time!

I got a non gaming friend to play the demo and she really liked it.

It's worth mentioning that you can change the difficulty down on the controller which will be a little more accomodating.

Thinking about it it does make sense to have a Demo thread so I will gracefully retract my statement above.

You clever .

Only joking!!

My mate played the demo last night and he's a hard core FPS player and when he was the detective trying to scramble up the hill and kept falling down we were in bits laughing - it's good having to do 'gymnastics' with the button as thats how it would feel trying to climb up that steep wet slippery embankment - so it was really good.

I reckon after a few beers playing this game it would be a right laugh!!!

(Shame about the kid though)

No messing.Straight to the point.I like that in a forum poster thumbup
I was only playing anyway.Funny really, things you may say in a pub and all
have a laugh about, come across as a abit aggressive on internet forums lol

By the way, the bloke smashed a bottle into my face in the game as my fingers
couldn't keep up.Then a short while later, I got stuck trying to walk up the
muddy bank.No hope for me really! Looking forward to it though, makes a nice
change to play something like this.

Just played this and found it a bit meh.

Interesting in places but too many QT events and not enough game. Controls are odd and I don't really see any reason to deviate from the right stick to look left to move model.

I couldn't see any replayability in it.

That's what I thought too, will probably give this a miss. I often found it difficult to see what button I was supposed to be pressing, didn't like the fact you are rushed when trying to get information and the story seems very linear. The camera angles are a bit awkward at times also.

That's pretty much the point though, it's designed as a movie where you can have subtle influences on the outcome. You're not forced to do half the QTEs, choosing not to do them will have ramifications further down the line. The idea is you become absorbed into the story and guide the characters in the direction you choose, having played their previous game a lot of the choices are very subtle, but add up to very different outcomes.

Clearly it's not going to be for everyone though.

Thats the problem then, if I want a great story I'll read a book, if I want a great movie I'll watch a film. I like games with a story, it gives you motivation to continue.

I play a game for the interactivity, I felt that I had no control over the game. You had seconds to perform each action, but you had no way to know what each action was going to result in. You have no freedom of choice every possible action has been pre-defined by the writers. So it fails as a game.

I don't want or expect a totally open world (I also found GTA tedious) but in that if I press x I fire my gun, Y and I jump etc so I know what the outcome of my actions will be. Move the stick might as well be turn the page. FPS games have little freedom in comparison to open world but at least you can choose who you shoot and in what order!

In the fight in the sleazy place it's a QT fight. But I spent so much time trying to hit the right keys I didn't actually watch most of the fight. So it fails as a movie in that respect. Also for an interactive-movie it looked terrible, fuzzy in places and the animation/uncanny-valley of the hooker was spectacually bad. The only decent actor in the thing was the fat detective, the hooker was awful (although that might have been the bad lip-synch) but the detective was ok for a game.

I like what they are trying to do, I like the idea, but it needs to be more of a game. I'd probably buy if it was £10 but not interested at full price.

I actually like this, in a funny sort of way. Yes it is quite linear, yes you have seconds sometimes to hit the correct buttons, but it is a little different and I like that. I like the different use of the controller for certain actions and the way that different choices affect the story.

The trouble with this game is that it is hard to demo because it is a story based game. It's like reading the first few chapters of a book and then having to put it down until the rest of the story is finished.

I can see why it won't appeal to everyone as it does seem to be a niche thing. However, for everyone who states that this game is too linear, please tell me of a game that isn't. COD 6, very very linear. GTA, you can roam but only within certain boundaries, but you have to do certain things to progress the game. Fallout 3, you can roam again but only within the set playing field of the game. Unfortunately it is very difficult to name any game on the consoles that isn't linear. You would need to look along the lines of MMORPG's on the pc to get something less linear.

I suppose some people will feel that this game is too 'fixed', and you can't just wonder around at will. I can see this point as I noticed on the demo that you can only walk around in certain boundries. I guess we just need to take this game as something of an experiment. It's being marketed as an adult story, therefore you, as a player, are just progressing the story. Something which will ultimately mean that it is quite fixed.

Oh well, I like it. And as we all know, everyone has their own opinion so it's down to individuals to decide whether or not they buy it. smile

I see hat you're all saying about the WTE-ness of it. I kind of feel teh same way, but I think this game will actually go a long way to advancing storylines in games. Mostly they are fairly 1-dimensional that add nothing, with the exception of ME, and Bioshock I guess.

This game is supposed to be all about the emotional involvement, something thats stil rare in this medium. I'm looking forward to it. Somethign different that you can get absorbed by.

Most games bore me instantly now smile They're all too samey.

I didn't know what to make of it. I think I quite enjoyed it, but didn't like the fact you had to constantly do that DNA sweep thing, if the bloke was wearing the glasses all the time surely he'd see everything. It was enjoyable discovering all the things though.
