Gears of War 2 is hugely overhyped right?
Discussion
I decided to pick up some older games I'd missed whilst away from x360 ownership and can safely say I'm pretty disappointed with GOW2?!
I recently played through RE5 and thought it was superb from start to finish (minor things aside - controls, inventory system etc) with some of the best boss battles I've ever seen and movie like presentation. As soon as I started GOW2 though, (now finished) it felt disappointing...
The graphics are superb and the movement and controls are fairly slick, but ignoring that the game appears hugely repetitive, the narrative doesn't really work all that well, the boss battles aren't all that special, (the last is awful) and odd bits of the way the games presented seem clumsy, in particular with vehicles. It almost seems boring with such a lack of variety in the enemies you fight.
Maybe I've just lost the plot from being away from a 360 in so long?
Fair to say it's good but not great?

Kinda agree feels like the GOW series just started off as a test bed for the Unreal 3 engine. Think Epic should stick with making Unreal games. Its about time with have Unreal III isnt it?I recently played through RE5 and thought it was superb from start to finish (minor things aside - controls, inventory system etc) with some of the best boss battles I've ever seen and movie like presentation. I put it aside around halfway through.
Horde mode was the mantra of 2009..never really got into it.
There`s a similar feature in the upcoming AVP.

I think you're underestimating it...
If you play it on easy then I'm not suprised, if you play it on normal it's still a walk-through game... Play it on the harder difficulty and you'll soon learn to hit every reload as an active-reload, because without the damage boost you will run out of ammo.
Fight mob A in location X and the fight will be completely different to fighting mob A in location Y...
Confined spaces, Different elevations...
Not to mention it's how many years old now?
And don't forget, EPIC wanted to give away the new map packs for free. Microsoft demanded that title-updates must be paid for...
