Recovering THAT DSM

Argh.

MW2. On the level where you have to protect and recover the DSM. I died. It's restarted me at a checkpoint over and over. The problem is, at the checkpoint, I am midway through reloading with loads of enemies in front of me. I can't shoot them, but if I move to the left to avoid being killed, by the time I reload the DSM is destroyed.

What do I do ?

Do I just have to restart the mission ?

The DSM lasts only a few seconds after the checkpoint reloads. I just can't get any further.

I had similar to this and kept trying. I eventually found out to use a grenade and switch weapons. Kill two guys then reload my main weapon. I know it will be different for you but there will probably be a way!
