Fanatec steering wheel

Looks like my previous thread hasn't worked for what ever reason so will do it again
basicaly, wife very kindly bought me a fanatec turbo s steering wheel for Christmas , in all the mess of old wrapping paper it would seem knave thown away the instructions and so have a couple of questions too ask.
Firstly, what are the batteries needed for in the pedals?
How do you set it up with the ps3 as well as the xbox?
And finaly, what are the 2 metal bars for????
Unfortunatly i need to grind some metal off my play seat to make it fit, as soon as I have done that I will give a quick review on it compared to the
ms one that I have been using, if anyone wants to know

Right, i have the prototype turbo wheel so you have to bear withg me if i get it wrong!

Batteries are not needed (wire is also provided) but you can use batteries if you want to be fully wireless.

From my understanding, you can only connect to the PS3 and PC if you have the wireless dongle (looks like a little Porsche Key) which you did not get if you got the pure edition, they are about $50 if you havent got one, for the Sexbox, wireless is built in.

Metal Bars, these go in either side of the wheel itself for the Gear change (either the sequential box or the H pattern box) the gear boxes should have two holes on them for this to happen, you can put them eiather side for left or right handed gear changes.

I think that is about it!

It's a good wheel, more importantly Forza should be wonderful!

Thanks for the reply, have now angle grinder a lump off the playseat to allow the wheel to fit, turned all on(wired the pedal to the wheel) Just one more question, what is the digital display for? Seems to have different modes including an abs section????
Had a couple of goes and struggled with the feel as it is so much stiffer (oooh errr!) than the ms version,especially the brake pedal

Yes it is designed to give some feel and force in the break pedal to simulate a real pedal, when you get used to it, it really works. Did you get the Ali Clubsport Pedals? If you did, PC games will give you feedback to the break pedal, check online for supported games.

The LED display lets you fiddle about ingame instead of in the options menu, basically there is a mode for Degrees of rotation (900 - 360 etc), feedback strength, sensitivity etc, it also allows you to save 5 different setups for your games.

I think the quality varies wheel per wheel. I sent mine back, but the issues I had were not found by all users (although a good size handful!)

What issues did you have?
Its taken a bit to get used to, been playing most of today and only now stopped hitting the clutch instead of the brake!
Ssteering is really firm and tight compared to the sloppy and lose MS wheel, still that said i still think the MS wheel is worth its money where as the fanatec is a very expensive bit of kit, its better but over GBP200 better not so sure, ofcourse as a present its superb

Plenty of things. The pedals are junk imho (compared to the G25's) and although when I ordered it 'came with a G25 pedal adaptor' there wasnt one in the box.

The wheel had some centre-play when it arrived, which got worse (I only gave it around 3hours use).
The wheel squealed like a TV turning on - the high pitched noise.
among a few other random issues, but the main one is the worsening play - turned into a 3-5degree deadzone!
