Wii controller batteries(quick answer needed)

What type of batteries do the controllers use? Before I have 1 very dissapointed child tomorrow!!!!

If you have not opened the box, it comes with some.

It is easier to buy the battery packs though. £17 ish. Then they charge via the usb on the console. The Wii controllers eat batteries normally.
