Nintendo 64

I was thinking about buying the old nintendo 64 just for childhood memories. Does anyone still own one? I think maybe because it's so old it may break easy?! What do you guys think?

was playing on one on the weekend! Mariokart and Goldeneye still rock.

I would think they are pretty durable. Not a lot to go wrong, just blow on the cartridge if it doesn't work

Should be available on eBay.

Why would it break? No moving parts (i.e. hard drive, CD/DVD drive, etc.) should make it unbreakable really, unless you're crap at the games and throw it in frustration out of the window!

Seriously though, it is more reliable than any of the newer consoles, Xbox 360 I'm looking at you!

I have found one on amazon, and the game BANJO & KAZOOIE!! Christmas is gonna be great this year

I've got one I've had since 1996 and it still gets played for maybe an hour or two per month. Goldeneye is amazing!

I wouldn't be surprised if it's been played for something like 10,000 hours and it's been utterly reliable.

Or get a Wii and play the games on Virtual Console.

I currently have 12 games consoles under the telly, including an N64. Games like Perfect Dark and GoldenEye (not on Wii Virtual Console) still get a regular play as does WaveRace (which is available on Wii VC) as the N64 controller is just the best.
Other games that get played on it regularly are of course Mario Kart, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Snowboard Kids 1 & 2, Turok, and the best party mini-game game of all time: South Park: Chef's Love Shack. Honestly. It's brilliant.
Last week I brought some people back to mine after the Them Crooked Vultures gig as the missus was away at her parents'. We played a bit of Forza 3, a bit of Rock Band, then instead of Modern Warfare 2 they all wanted "South Park game". Even the bloke who had never played it before had to concede to its brilliance.

OK, so I lied about them all being under the telly. A couple are just to the side of it. Not that silly really.



From left to right (ish)

1. Sony PSone.
2. Sega MegaDrive (with Mega CD, 32x and Master System adaptor).
6. Sega Saturn.
7. Sega DreamCast.
8. Sony PlayStation 3 (slim).
9. Nintendo 64.
10. Microsoft Xbox 360.
11. Sony PlayStation 2 (slim).
12. Nintendo Wii.

and yes, they are all plugged in and ready to go. Just choose a game, plug in a controller, and away. All the new consoles are on HDMI or component, older ones on a SCART/RGB cable switching box device with a remote. I guess I could even claim 13 as the Wii is also a GameCube?

Original Xbox, another MegaDrive and GameCube are set up in the bedroom on the old 32" CRT telly, NES, SNES, Master System, Famicom and a whole heap of other stuff is in storage at the moment.

Get the N64, Emulators are a pale rubbish imitation.

I've had mine for a decade, used to take it to school, drop it and it got pulled off the table many times in 4-player shananigans. The casing is wrecked but it still works fine.
