COD6 Doing my head in at the moment, hard to join mates, games dropping left right and centre, server connections down. I run 20mb cable Broadband so I don't think it's me. IMHO CODWAW far better game anyway. There said it.

So I loaded up Rock Band. On the video and audio setups you can adjust for lag caused by the time taken for your TV to process an image compared to what the xbox think is going on.

This must affect all games so I wonder if some of the people that suffer from lag also have a dodgy video setup?

Now adjusting this for single player would work but I don't see how this could help on multipler...

Maybe... I run a 2m and 10m HDMI cable (and various switches) from my Xbox to the TV.

This will now become my new excuse.

I did read that MW2 does some kind of lag 'averaging' so if the majority of players have crappy connections, your good connection will be artificially averaged down.

hehe you must have about 52ms of lag there in the cabe alone!

lage averaging really? Sometimes I am fine and other times what I see on the sceen is simply not what happens in the game.

The actual connection lag is bad too COD6 game jumps so much- thought it was supposed to find the best host!

have you noticed that this 'feature' is only in rhythm timing based games?

I've only noticed it in Rockband for the Xbox 360, hence the post.

Guitar game lag is based on guitar-xbox-tv lag... not internet lag which is what is problematic with COD games.

yep i get this but It was the first time that a game-xbox-tvview lag was shown as an issue in a game.

If it affects rockband it would affect all games to a degree +/- what is going on on the internet.

I'm starting to agree slightly with that.

The single player was definately better on WAW and the multiplayer in particular had a much grittier setting and far more tension. There is nothing in MW2 that compares to when the dogs come at you, cowering in a corner with your pistol hoping they don't spot you was a yardstick of multiplayer tension.

Also I thought the weapons were a bit more fun and varied and lastly I thought that the tactical games worked a little better in WAW.

David - Rock Band / Guitar Hero have this setting because precision of timing / hitting the notes in the precise micro second you see them is essential to the gameplay, especially at the tougher levels.
I would argue that timing isn't as macro essential in shooters - certainly not over accuracy of aim etc.
Having said that i suck at both timing and accuracy so not sure if i am the best to make this observation.

You have to remember when COD4 was out around this time, and as it closer to Xmas it all fked up. This game is as popular if not more, then the servers are going to go st again, no matter what Xbox say. We'll probably get another version of Undertow for free, when it goes really bad.

true, but lag is lag. How many times have you come up against someone in a doorway and been beaten to the trigger, then think "how the fk!!"?

As I mentioned above not sure that set up lag is such an issue in online games anyway. Just that this was the first time i had personally seen a game try and adjust itself for this sort of.

The game hit new lows last night...dropping out of game, couldn't find any games, 4 bar signals disappearing to 1, lag lag lag. Given the progression from COD MW onto WAW they have seriously missed a trick.
Very annoying.

Are you sure you guys don't have another problem instead of just blaming the game and servers?

I'm using an X-Box wirelesss conection and the cheapest broadband that I could get from Orange, I'm also usually streaming some radio or TV on my laptop while I play as well.....

.....and my connection is spot on, finds matches almost instantly, never bumps me from servers and the amount of lag seems to have dropped significantly in the last couple of weeks.

Not trying to insult you all but perhaps you could be looking for the problem a little closer to home?

I thought I was just crap at COD - I'll blame the lag!

I used to have this problem with Forza 2 until I sorted my router settings. Was so long ago I can't remember exactly what it was but it involved manually opening ports etc

This isn't a problem with the game, Im only running a 1mb line and thats at the wee hours in morning. Typically i get about 612kbs and I can play without any lag issue, I get 4 bars usually but at least 3 even during busy times of the day.

What setting are you guys running at (if it is pc based) as it may not be true lag your experiencing, but suffering with bad FPS (the guys that are connecting but having issues in game)

As someone has said, try opening the right ports. Also are you sharing the connection at all? as that will really muck stuff up if someone if surfing the web while your trying to kill 13 year olds that are leet!

It's gone tits up again for me. Why does it keep jumping me into fking games with yanks? It makes for a st game, I'd rather wait 5 mins and play with at least some europeans.

Has the spawn points been tweaked too? I forever seem to spawn in front of the enemy or underneath a pavelow at present.......

Kept getting thrown into fking private matches on Rust.

I give up.

Not much enjoyment in the game much more fun to be had elsewhere. I will leave it I think drop back in sporadically as and when.
